Reaching the Next Generation Now

“that the next generation might know them (God’s mighty works),
the children yet unborn,
and arise and tell them to their children,
so that they should set their hope in God
and not forget the works of God,
but keep his commandments…”

Psalm 78:6-7

No doubt this summer your church has been involved in reaching out and raising up the next generation among us by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are hearing reports from many SBC of Virginia churches that have provided mission opportunities, service projects, camps, and opportunities like Vacation Bible Schools.

With back-to-school sales in full swing and as students prepare to resume classes in the weeks to come, please be in prayer for students, parents, teachers, and administrators. Pray for God’s grace and peace across our communities. Let’s pray for one another as churches gear up for the upcoming season of ministry to this new generation of students and children.

The SBCV comes alongside churches to reach the next generation by providing leadership tools and resources for children and youth leaders. These opportunities include Vacation Bible School training, Student Fusion summer camp, Family Fusion, Youth Evangelism Conference, and more. This fall, we are coming alongside churches to support a Young Adults Retreat.

Thank you for praying and giving through the Cooperative Program (I think of it as “Cooperative Partnership”) and the Vision Virginia State Missions Offering. SBCV’s mission is to come alongside local churches advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ together to reach our neighbors and the nations – and this includes reaching the next generation!

Please let us know how your SBCV ministry team can pray for you as you lead the next generation to set their hope in God (Psalm 78:6-7). Also, I would love to hear how God is moving in your church to reach the next generation to set their hope in God.

May the Spirit of God work mightily as you proclaim the Word of God to the next generation!

Your brother in Christ,

BRIAN AUTRY
Executive Director
